Cathedral of S. Ciriaco
Ancona’s main monument built in Medieval times (11th - 13th century), is one of the most fascinating churches of its time. It combines various architectural styles, mostly Romanesque blended with touches of Byzantine and Gothic. Situated on the hill above the port, the church offers a lovely view of the modern city from its square.

The marble Arch of Trajan is one of the finest Roman monuments in the Marche. The 18 m-high construction was erected in 114/115 as an entrance to the causeway, in honor of the emperor who had set up the harbor. It stands on a high podium approached by a wide flight of steps. The bronze figures surmounting it representing Trajan, his wife Plotina and sister Marciana, would figure as a landmark for ships approaching Rome's greatest Adriatic port.

The Lazzaretto
One of the best-known monuments of the city, designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli in 1732, is a pentagonal building meant to protect the military defensive authorities against the risk of contagious diseases. Later it was used also as a military hospital or barracks. Today it hosts cultural events, music festivals and fairs.

The Palazzo Comunale Morro d'Alba, built between 1763 and 1775 by Margaritone d'Arezzo, with its arched substructures of imposing height at the back, it hosts il Compiano, a piece of mountain artillery from Napoleon’s time.

The Pinacoteca Civica Francesco Podesti is housed in the Palazzo Bosdari, reconstructed in 1558 – 1561 by Pellegrino Tibaldi. It hosts both modern and classical paintings. Here you can find paintings of the local painter Francesco Podesti (1800-1895), Camerino Carlo da Camerino (late 15th - early 16th century) and by Arcangelo di Cola (not. 1416-1429). Modern art is represented by Bartolini, Bucci, Cagli, Levi.

The Conero Riviera, located south of Ancona, is a heavenly place where white and sandy beaches are interrupted by rocky cliffs diving into the deep turquoise sea. It is definitely one of the most beautiful seashore areas of the entire Adriatic coast.
