Budapest, often being referred to as the "Paris of the East", is considered one of Europe's most attractive cities, as it offers a visual feast of architectural and natural beauty. Budapest has its own distinctive character and attractions; it has managed to preserve its identity despite of all modernization efforts. The river Danube splits the city into two parts, Buda and Pest, but this does not diminish the harmony of the city; as a result, Budapest is also called ‘Queen of the Danube’ or ‘Pearl of the Danube’.

Public Transportation
Budapest has a fairly extensive and efficient public transport system. It is cheaper than in most Western European cities. A wide variety of trams, buses, trolleys and metro trains run in the city. For more information, please access:

You can explore Budapest by walking, but if you wish to get around using public transport, we recommend you to purchase a Budapest Card. You can travel with the card free of charge on all public transport services within the boundaries of Budapest. For more information, please access:
Taxi
The price is calculated according to the distance traveled but will also include a fixed booking fee (around 300 Forint during the day and 420 Forint at night) and a waiting fee, if appropriate. The charge will depend on how many kilometers are covered during the journey and can be a maximum of 240 Forint/km during the day and 336 Forint/km at night.
Larger taxi companies work with rates far lower than the maximum charges mentioned above. A taxi ordered by phone is cheaper than one called in the street, so when possible, it is better to ask the hotel personnel to call you a taxi.
