The Uffizi Gallery is one of the best and most famous art galleries in the world. A perfect model of Renaissance architecture, this art museum hosts one of the greatest collections of paintings ever painted and a collection of Greek and Roman statues, including Venus de' Medici. Some of the masterpieces one can admire here are Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus' and 'Primavera', Rafael's 'Madonna of the Goldfinch', and Giotto's Madonnas.

The Vasari Corridor (Corridoio Vasariano) that connects the Uffizi Gallery with the Pitti Palace hosts a rich collection of self-portraits by past and present artists. Built by Vasari in 1565, it passes above the Ponte Vecchio, the "Old Bridge" (in fact the oldest bridge in the city), with its many jewelry shops. 
 
Palazzo Pitti became the Medici Family residence in 1549. Today, it houses many important Florentine museums, such as: the Palatina Gallery (with Rafael, Andrea del Sarto, Caravaggio, Bronzino masterpieces and more), the Silver Museum, and the Modern Art Gallery. The Pitti Palace is also famous for its gardens: the Boboli gardens, carried out in 1549 by Bartolomeo Ammannati. 
 
Palazzo Vecchio (The Old Palace) is the most important civil building in the city of Florence. The construction of the Palace begun in 1299. For a while, it housed de' Medici family before their transfer to Palazzo Pitti. Vasari transformed the building between 1550 and 1565 to become both the seat of the Government and the official residence of the ruling family. The entire palace is a museum, especially the so-called "Monumental Quarters".

Santa Maria Novella is a beautiful church dating the Middle Ages, located near the city's largest park. It gave its name to the city train station.

Il Duomo (The Cathedral) is dedicated to Santa Maria del Fiore and is typical for the Italian Gothic architecture. The present building was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio (1245-1302), one of the greatest architect-sculptors of his age. Finished around 1367, it was completely covered with colored marbles, although the unfinished façade was given its covering in the nineteenth century.

The Museum of San Marco consists of the former Dominican convent restored and enlarged to its present size for Cosimo the Elder de' Medici by his favorite architect Michelozzo (1396-1472). It was transformed into a museum, having one of the finest interiors of Renaissance and a fine series of illuminated manuscripts.

Campo di Marte & Fiesole

Located outside the medieval city wall, it is home to many historical buildings dating back to the early 20th century, as well as many modern stone apartment blocks.

There are several outdoor cinemas to be found in Florence, one in the grounds of an old villa where the film is projected onto a screen on the facade of the villa.
