The Metropolitan Cathedral was built in two stages between 1833 and 1839 and between 1880 and 1887, at the initiative of Bishop Veniamin Costache. The painting of the cathedral was made by Gheorghe Tatarescu. It was inaugurated on 23 April 1887, King Carol I also taking part in this event. In 1889, the relics of Saint Paraschiva were brought from Three Hierarchs Church to the new Cathedral.

The Art Museum has the largest art collection in Romania, with more than 8,000 paintings, out of which 1,000 belong to the national and universal patrimony. The gallery exhibits works by artists such as Caravaggio, Paolo Veronese, Pietro Liberi, Carlo Dolci, Salvator Rosa, Francesco Solimena, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Anthony van Dyck, Jan Both, Bartholomeus van der Helst, Egbert van Heemskerk II, Nicolas Poussin, Philippe de Champaigne, Eustache Le Sueur, Guillaume Coustou, François Boucher and many others.
 
The Moldavian History Museum presents more than 35,000 objects from various fields: archaeology, numismatics, decorative art, ancient books, documents, etc. and one of the oldest items, a 70,000-year-old mammoth skull, dating the Middle Paleolithic Era. Among other items of significance are pottery of the Cucuteni culture, Dacian, Sarmatian, Gothic, and Roman artifacts and other items dating the Middle Ages.
 
The Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia owns more than 11,000 objects reflecting Romanian progress through the ages.
 
“Three Hierarchs” Monastery (Manastirea “Trei Ierarhi”)  built between 1637 and 1639 is the most beautiful foundation of sovereign Vasile Lupu, Prince of Moldavia. The exterior decorations are a mixture of Turkish, Arab, Georgian, Armenian and Persian elements with Romanian architectural motives. Inside the monastery, members of Vasile Lupu’s family, as well as Prince Dimitrie Cantemir and ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza are buried. 

The Palace of Culture was erected between 1906-1925 in neo-Gothic style by orders of King Carol I, and is one of the largest buildings of Romania. Since 1977, the Palace of Culture has housed four different museums: The Museum of History, The Museum of Art, The Museum of Ethnography, and The Museum of Science and Technology.

Bulevardul Stefan Cel Mare (si Sfint)

Along it you will find the Metropolitan Church, the Trei Ierarhi Church, the Palace of Culture and the National Theater. In winter, the boulevard is adorned with different lights. During the weekends, the boulevard is closed to traffic.
 
Copou is a big hill on which the University, the botanical garden and many old, elegant houses have found their location. There are many parks and old trees scattered between the buildings. It's an appealing place to go for a walk. 

Copou Park is probably the most popular park in Iasi. There is extremely old and famous linden tree in the park where Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu wrote some of his poems. In front of the linden tree, there are two large patches of bright blue forget-me-nots.

Botanical Garden. The botanical garden is high up on Copou Hill, and it's a popular summer getaway.
