Perugia is a lively, cosmopolitan hill town in the green Umbria Region of Central Italy, with many historical buildings, a stunning central square and elegant shops.
The historic center is built on the high hills along the right bank of the Tiber River. An art town that draws large numbers of visitors, Perugia is a multiethnic and multicultural center with a university and a large Italian language school for foreigners.
Perugia has a lot to offer to the traveler and is a good base for visiting other hill towns in Umbria such as Assisi, Spello, Gubbio, Lake Trasimeno, and the famous Deruta pottery.

Perugia has 16 main buslines that run every 20-30 minutes, some of them every 30-60 minutes to and from the ciy outskirts towards the center of town and between the different areas. The itineraries are designed to render access possible to all the strategic points in the city, whether by direct service or through a connection.
Taxi
Traveling by taxi is rather expensive, especially when traveling between 10:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m., on Sunday or holidays. Try to negotiate the taxi fare in advance if possible and we recommend you to use only the official licensed taxis, which are clearly identified by the taxi sign on the top and a numbered shield on the side.
